Microsoft is considering adding a dedicated Office key to keyboards. The new key would provide additional keyboard shortcuts for Office apps, including the ability to quickly share documents and files. Microsoft has been conducting a survey with testers of the Office key, spotted by WalkingCat, and is getting feedback on how the dedicated key operates.

AZIO’s gorgeous Iris keyboard is inspired by vintage cameras

AZIO is a company that makes keyboards that look as good as they feel when you type on them, and at Computex it was showing off the prototype for its next device. The AZIO Iris draws inspiration from the design of old-fashioned rangefinder cameras, from Leica and Fujica / Fujifilm, with unashamedly analog dials and switches. It may not be going on sale until the end of the year at the earliest, but I'm already in love.

Ever since March of 2015, Typing-SpeedTest.com was a free to use tool for anyone who wanted to get better at typing. It is still just a single-person hobby project that was created to develop my own typing skills. Sure it had ads from the beginning, and thankfully that helps a lot when I have to pay the hosting bill.

Apple’s keyboard ‘material’ changes on the new MacBook Pro are minor at best

Apple’s keyboard ‘material’ changes on the new MacBook Pro are minor at best

05/26/2019 08:17:00 | Views: 1161

According to iFixit, Apple made two changes to the new keyboards that are on its just-announced, spec-bumped MacBook Pro. The changes seem to amount to a new material underneath the key on the switch cover and a new dome switch that might be more resilient. And though it’s much too early to say whether or not those changes will make a difference in improving the keyboard’s reliability, what is clear right now is that Apple is still just tweaking its design instead of overhauling it.

Apple’s new MacBook keyboard fix is reassuring and worrying at the same time

I genuinely don’t know whether to feel reassured or worried about Apple’s latest attempt to address its busted butterfly keyboards. I think it’s both — because on the very same day Apple announced a revised version of its MacBook Pro keyboard that supposedly won’t get crippled by mere specks of dust, it included those brand-new keyboards in the same free extended repair program designed to placate customers whose keyboards do fail.

Apple tweaks its troubled MacBook keyboard design yet again, expands repair program

Apple is announcing an update to its keyboard repair program today. All MacBooks with the so-called “butterfly mechanism” (that’s pretty much all modern MacBooks) will now be fully eligible for Apple’s Keyboard Service Program. The expansion means that a few newer models that weren’t previously covered will be able to get repairs. Unfortunately, Apple is not extending how long that program lasts — it’s still “4 years after the first retail sale of the unit.”
